Grape is one of the oldest cultivated plants. It is classified as true berry because the fruit wall or pericarp is fleshy all the way through. The cultivation of grapes dates back more than 5,000 years in Egypt, and they were highly developed by the Greek and Romans. Today there are nearly 200 cultivated varieties. Modern cultivars have all been derived from two main species, the European (Mediterranean) Vitis vinivera (a tight-skin grape with wine-like flavor) and the North American V. Labrusca (a slip-skin grape with Concord-type flavor)
North America slip-skin grapes are generally more hardly than the European. The fruit is round with a more watery flesh and a thin skin that slips off very easily. Yhe North America V. Labrusca is also called the fox grape and is the source of thr famous cultivar discovered in Concord, Massachusetts. Concord grapes are the most important American grape for juices, jellies and preserves. They are also used for certain wines.
In the European tight-skin, which are used for wines, the skin does not separate readily from the pulp. Some of the best wines and popular eating grapes, such as "Thompson Seedless" and "Red Seedless" are cultivars of V. Vinivera. Sterile, triploid cultivars have been developed that do not produce seeds because of synaptic failure during Meiosis I resulting in Non-Viable gametes. Several varieties of grapes are dried and used for raisins. The best raisin grapes are selected for flavor, reduced stickiness and soft texture.

The Bengawan Solo River is Java's longest river and most important waterway for trade and agriculture, and seemed to Gesang to symbolise the durability of Javanese culture in those troubled times. Gesang was very fond of Indonesian music, especially in Javanese. During his life, Gesang had written many songs, such as Jembatan Merah, Pamitan. Caping Gunung, Ali Ali, Andheng Andheng, Luntur, Saputangan and Sebelum Aku Mati.

Gesang died in 20th May 2010. However, he would still remain a keroncong maestro in Indonesia.

LOUIS PASTEUR

In 1847 he earned a doctorate at the Ecole Normale in Paris, with a focus on both physics and chemistry.
In 1854 he worked on bacteria. He found that the desired production of alcohol in fermentation is indeed due to yeast. The undesired one is due to presence of additional organisms such as bacteria.
Because he was aware of the presence microorganisms in nature, in 1864 Pasteur undertook several experiments to find out where these “germs” came from.
In 1865 he found a method to destroy harmful bacteria without materially changing the composition flavour, or nutritive value of the liquid. The process was named after him Pasteurization.

THE CROW THAT TRIED TO BE AN EAGLE

"Just look at that eagle!" the crow exclaimed.
